B.C.I's Sound & Vision Radio Commissions

After almost 19 years living and working in the UK from London, I returned home to Ireland in May. Among the media work I'm undertaking since, are four radio commissions from the

BCI's Sound & Vision Fund

FOR NEWSTALK 106FM:

Soshin's Story the story of Maura O’Halloran, the Irish woman venerated as a Buddhist Bodhisattva in Japan since her untimely death in a road accident 25 years ago.

To Hell or Barbados The story of the Irish Red Legs enslaved during Cromwellian Times on the Bajan sugar plantations as recounted by their present day descendents and their supporters.

FOR SHANNONSIDE & NORTHERN SOUND:

The Washing of the Waters a personal take on the history of Athlone’s Golden Island river community.

FOR GALWAY BAY FM:

Cape Town to Corrandulla  a container, two communities, a township school and a Caper in Corrandulla shine a light on life for today's South African citizens.

Polaroids on the Salmon Weir in partnership with musician & filmmaker Peadar Browne, this 5 part series scheduled for Spring 2010, charts the hilarious history of Galway's salmon snatchers down through the decades from the early 20th century.
